A great recipe was shared with me that I just tried. It’s called:
Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce
It is by far the easiest and best tasting white sauce I have made. Shane and i made chicken Alfredo with steamed veggies last night. it was divine. however, makers beware it tastes so similar to olive garden Alfredo sauce you’ll be looking for your waiter to bring you breadsticks. Next time I make this I need to make garlic flavored breadsticks!
Anyway something This great can’t be kept a secret.
Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce:
1 pint of heavy cream
1 stick of butter
2 tbsp. cream cheese (there is no actual cream cheese in their recipe--it is suggested to add it to help with the texture)
1/2 - 3/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 tsp. garlic powder
In a a saucepan, combine butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Simmer this untl all is melted, and mixed well. Add the parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Simmer this for 15-20 minutes on low. You may wish to season with salt and pepper.
Please note: Heavy cream is different than Heavy whipping cream. However, the only place i’ve found heavy cream is at costco and I dont have any idea what to do with that large amount.
*** You can use heavy whipping cream, that’s what I did, it’s just a different amount of milk fat. ***
Also, I bought the five ounce wedge of parmesan cheese from walmart and even though 5 oz is not half a cup it was a decent amount of cheese flavor and only cost about $3.
yum! I suck at making white sauces, they always turn out chunky on me for some reason- I'll try this one out thanks!
