The Allergy Follow Up

We made it to the allergist and found out flax is the culprit. At least through the process of elimination we are 99% sure it's flax. Parker didn't enjoy being back in the 'hot seat'. He was pretty upset when the doctor poked his little back with all the extracts…but I feel more confident as the mom knowing what's going on.

I'm officially a 'label reading mom' Thank goodness we're only dealing with flax right now, not something more common and life altering like wheat. I can only handle so much change and upheaval at a time!

Playing in the Dirt:

We got a fun package in the mail (thanks grandparents)! In the box we found some fun toys to play with. With the expectation of moving, we chose not to invest in a garden this year so it was the perfect place to play.

The one about the allergies

Be Warned, I find theses photos to be very disturbing

While sewing at a friends house last week we found ourselves enjoying some healthy, delicious smoothies around lunch time. Thirty minutes later Mr. Man was acting like he had a cold (sneezing, coughing, asking to sit still in Mommy's lap etc.) Within the hour it was obviously time to leave and get him home for a nap. He was not doing well. So we packed up the sewing project, tools, cleaned up toys, and found Parker's eyes had hives on them and he was starting to wheeze. It was obvious at this point it was more than a cold, it looked like an allergic reaction (not that I've seen one 'blossom' before my eyes).

Long story short we ended up in the E.R. to monitor symptoms, and bring down the swelling. Emma ended up at a friends house (thank goodness) and Parker fell asleep while we waited about 4 hours…I see the allergist later this week.

He was fixated on this tube (an alcohol swab I think).

The next day, spunky and happy and most of the swelling is gone.

Happy Mother's Day!

I've had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, one of my most memorable I think. The kids are getting big enough (Little Miss especially) so they look forward to and ask "When's Mother's Day?!"

My dearest friend came down to visit me; we had a glorious time. Her sweet husband kept their children, and mine played at a friends house so we were kid free for several amazing hours! Plus she always treats me like a princess so we went out to lunch, played at the craft store, picked up something fun for my children etc.

The timing was impeccable as I had to say goodbye to my friend the flower delivery van pulled up at my house! He pulls out a fun bouquet that Shane had sent while he was working. Plus, there was a fancy box of chocolates big enough for me to share with the kids. Later that afternoon my Relief Society President stopped by to check on me and gave me a fun rose. I lovingly stuck it in the bouquet that came from Shane.

Sunday morning was just as good! Emma surprised me with a fun package (she made herself) and a card that my friend helped her write on (sneaky sneaky)! She had tissue paper, hand drawn pictures etc. She put her heart into it-really helped me feel special. Church was fun too, I felt very well taken care of. As a church group we decided to call it 'Motherhood Day' because there are so many important women in our lives regardless of children.

Anyway, long story short I don't want to forget this weekend. I feel thought of, I feel grateful for Motherhood and Womanhood, and I feel uplifted. Happy Motherhood Day to each and every lady in my life.

Here's some Easter weekend pictures…just for fun.

We ate s'mores for dessert in case you can't tell.
