In the words of WeirdAl Yankovic:
Eat it!
Shane was feeding Emma 'Squash' today at a furious pace. That girl couldn't get the food in her mouth fast enough. It is such a treat to hear her coo with delight as she eats something she enjoys. Each bite she took we would hear a loud "Uuummm"! It made me giggle.
She has alway been a good eater, she came knowing how to eat. However, now she is starting to play with her food. I find a bit of carrots in her ears, squash in her hair, peach cobbler on her toes...you would not believe it.

It's amazing how quickly she learns to like or dislike tastes. Emma LOVED sour lemons and limes for the longest time. I would wash the peels and give her a piece to suck on whenever I needed one for cooking etc. One day after I gave her a piece I heard a horrific cough, when I looked I saw Emma making the funniest faces. I quickly grabbed the camera and caught her still sticking the lime in her mouth! It was like she couldn't stop putting something into her mouth.
I have found that Gerber food is much too expensive to waste. Sure I could puree my own but I'm not yet ready to try. When Emma doesn't like a particular kind I have to get creative with the spices. This picture below shows pears. Emma won't eat them unless I put cinnamon in them. I've also added chili powder or green taco sauce to rice cereal, garlic salt to beans, and lemon pepper to peas.
She loves all kinds of foods and it sure is an adventure trying new things everyday. I'm excited for the day we stick a big fat birthday cake in front of her face to see what she does. I imagine if she's anything like her mom she'll have a mouth full of sweet teeth and cake will quickly become a favorite.
