A Very Merry Un-Birthday to Me:

Ok so Shane talked me into opening my birthday gift from him early (he has a hard time waiting...in fact I'm impressed he bought it yesterday and waited until today).

I got the new Sony cyber-shot TX5!

I love my old TX1 but it's gone the way of the dodo.

This bad boy is freeze proof, water proof, shock (drop) proof, and dust proof. Let me rephrase:

When Emma's grimy hands get hold of my camera and smudge up the touch screen and lens I can run it under the tap to clean it off. Or when she throws it on the hardwood floor I don't have to worry because it's shock proof and IF something bad did happen the warranty guarantees me a new camera no questions asked!

Anyway, here are a few pictures of our daily adventures:

Any Questions?

Que Sera, Sera, Whatever will be, will be:

Ok I did it. I just made a hundred dollar appointment to share all my hopes, fears, concerns, and goals with a complete stranger-a stranger with a PHD for that matter (for those who don’t know I happen to have a bad taste in my mouth for most doctors...).

I’ve done some research and found a dietitian/nutritionist to help me look into my health, weight, exercise, genetics, and eating habits. I have a fitness/strength and weight-loss goal that I have not yet met and it’s time to be more serious about it. Emma is over a year old and I’m certainly not getting any younger.

Why am I telling you? Why share some of the most embarrassing and personal information with the blogging world: because recently I read somebody else’s personal confession to hold themselves more accountable and I want to be held accountable too. Because telling your visiting teachers “Yeah, I’d like to loose more weight and be healthier.” won’t cut it anymore, because I believe if I wait any longer I may simply give up.

I don’t believe fad diets or extreme popular diet plans will work for me and my personality. Being accountable with the help of a medical professional will-with time, patience and old fashioned hard work.

Under the Sea, Darling it's Better Down where it's Wetter:

Emma’s Under the Sea Jamboree:

Ok ok so I had to start with this picture because I am flabbergasted at the outcome. Emma does not like chocolate cake. She’ll eat chocolate chip cookies, chocolate fudge bars, and brownies but not my homemade chocolate cake and frosting...hmmm

Maybe my teachings of not grabbing the spoon out of my hand worked a little TOO well-that sounds better I’ll stick with that.

Anyway, we had a fun time. I decided a first birthday was special but not worth getting stressed and worked up over. So we kept things casual with a small guest list, few decorations and simple themed activities.

September 4th 2009 I spent the day in Park City Utah shopping with my mom. Next we went with Shane and visited the Aquarium in Sandy...Draper? I don’t remember but it was way fun and such a great price. Next we went out to eat at the Mayan Adventures (where you pay more for the atmosphere than the quality of food). The next morning I was laboring my Emma into this world.

September 4th 2010 we took our little family and visited the Aquarium at Mandalay Bay on the Strip. We loved it! Emma was very alert and aware of what was going on with the fish (not to mention I got to see my favorite animal: The Green Sea Turtle).

"Holy Cow is that a REAL shark?!"

Plus we played at the splash park where Emma towed me around and made me run through the sprinklers etc.

Just like in the Ocean:

Ok this is just cute. We had an Under the Sea Jamboree for Emma's Birthday Party (more on that later) and she got a swimming pool as one of her gifts.

Thought I would share.

One Year Older and Wiser Too:

My Sweet Emma Bean,

the 5th of September 2009 you joined our little family, showing us your desire for exact obedience by coming on your due date.

Your nose was temporarily crooked from your journey into this world and you could yell like you were training for the Opera. You were so petite and still are. You melted your Daddy’s heart quickly and changed our lives Eternally. As your parents we fell in love with no reservations.

Emma at 1 Year...

  • You are so happy and such a ham! You love to make people laugh and pay attention to you.
  • You are learning to sign with me and your favorite sign is Puppy Dog.

  • You’re very conservative with walking, you balance on two feet for 30 seconds or more as long as you don’t think about it. You’ve attempted a first step twice already.

  • You have 6 top teeth (2 are molars) and 3 bottom teeth.

  • Books capture your attention for a LONG time. I’ve never seen a 12 month old sit and ‘read‘ books out loud to themselves for 20 minutes.
  • You still fit into some clothes sized 3-6 months
  • You love music and to sing. You’re favorite songs right now are Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, In the Leafy Tree Tops, and Patty Cake.

  • You are obsessed with electronics. I can’t get on the phone without you chasing me down to say ‘Hiyeeeee’ and don’t get me started on trying to work on the computer while you’re awake.

  • Bath time is one of your favorite times. You splash and splash and never cry when water or soap gets in your eyes.
  • If I don’t know where you are in the house I will almost always find you playing in the recycle box.

  • You simply adore your Daddy. Flying in the air when Daddy catches you is a favorite game.
