1. We enjoyed our 4th of July! We enjoyed a simple parade with free candy and frisbee in the morning, followed by an afternoon BBQ at a friends house, which lead to a 3 hour nap for both the littles, waking up just in time to pack a late dinner and head to the local park for free fireworks.

| Don't mind the grumpy face, she really had a blast |
2. Took Parker to the Dr. for a follow up on his weight gain (or should I say lack there of). He is small for his age, very very small, however, he is happy and appears healthy in every other way. I think the Dr. said he's now in the .012 percentile. Whatever the percentile he's 13.0 lbs of smiles and fun. We'll be back in another month to check again (we will discuss supplementing his diet with formula at that point).

3. There has been several summer thunder storms this past week-LOVE IT! I don't care much for rain but I'm really enjoying some moisture in the air and the cooler temperatures. It makes it more fun to play outside.
4. Emma was invited to her first birthday party! She plays with both the 8 year old birthday boy as well as the 4 year old sister. In the words of Emma: "It was the bestest birfday party EVER!"

| It was an Army themed party. |
5. My garden is huge, we constructed plans for a 1200 sq. ft. garden. We did everything we thought we needed to: amended the soil, constructed trellises, formed mounds, built a watering system, and planted both seeds and starters from the local nursery. We've managed to kill everything at least once, some plants we've tried three times with little success. Truth is Shane and I have been able to garden in several different areas with great outcomes (including Las Vegas with 120+ degree weather). Cedar City has us beat this year. We're taking notes on the outcomes and learning more and more from the locals about what to do differently next year. I originally had big plans on canning my guts out this harvest, but alas, I'll be happy to make 1 jar of salsa or make one family salad with what we are keeping alive this year.

| We have some tomatoes, and potatoes growing between all those weeds (behind Emma). |
 |
| That is one stubborn spinach! |
 |
| We've planted corn 3 times. This one large one is the only survivor of the original batch. |
 |
| You can almost see the cute green beans and peas trying to grow by the trellises. |
Glad Parker is doing well. As for his size, remember that Sienna was BELOW the minimum line when she was very little...not even on the chart! Today she is one of the tallest girls in the sixth grade, an excellent athlete, and the epitome of good health.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt that Parker will be the same!
