Both Shane and I were busy doing grown-up stuff this evening, you know cleaning the kitchen and fixing the car, when it became
readily apparent how quiet Emma was. So I stop what I was doing and go looking for her while calling her name. There was a brief moment of panic when she was no where to be found and she was not answering my call.
So I head into the garage thinking perhaps she asked her daddy to play out there with him. She came out of her hiding place and called to me from the house. So naturally I go back in and say "Where were you?" The reply: "Oh sorry, I eat the candy Mommy." Thinking fast where candy could
possibly be found (candy is so few and far between in this house anymore) Emma leads me to my closet. There she shows me some lost and forgotten candy of Shane's.
I can't help but laugh (a bad parent move, I know) and tell her she needs to apologize to Daddy for eating his candy. Thankful she didn't get a spanking and a time out in the corner she happily comes with me to tell Daddy: "Sorry Daddy, I eat Daddy's candy."
Needless to say our scripture picture before bedtime was from the Bible when Daniel, Shadrach Meshach, and Abednego live the word of wisdom. We than reminded Emma about the candy incident and expounded.
